Let the Peoples Praise You - Rhys Scott

 • Series: Seasons in the Psalms

INTRODUCTION God calls us to our neighbours, but He also calls us to the nations. In our context this is much easier, as God has brought the nations to us, and our city is as diverse as any on earth. When the early church was forming and the first churches were being planted across the Roman Empire Jew and Gentile were being saved into these new church families, often resulting in conflict along racial and cultural lines. A key message which comes through in almost every one of Paul’s letters to the churches is the call to unity - to embrace one another as brother and sister across ethnic and cultural differences. This is no different today: we cannot be complacent or think that this will ‘just happen’. As we build together the call of God is to embrace one another wholeheartedly, intentionally building friendships across our different cultures. Only then can we begin to carry the Gospel down our streets, across our province, and into the nations. QUESTIONS Read Galatians 2:1-16 together in two or three translations. Then take a few moments to summarize what is happening in this passage. 1. What does this passage teach us about the heart of God? 2. What does this passage teach us about how God wants us to live together as the church? 3. What is God encouraging you to do as a LifeGroup in response to this? Finally, on Sunday Rhys gave four things which we can do this week to step into a Gospel mindset when it comes to the nations. Which of these are you going to do? 1. Invite someone in the church who is from a different ethnicity to coffee, and share your stories of coming to faith together. 2. Invite a person of a different ethnicity in your workplace or your street to your home and ask them to tell you their life story. 3. Pray about joining the Turkey team next year to see what God is doing there, and what He is calling us to be involved in. 4. If God is speaking to you about church planting in the future, reach out to one of us so we can chat about how we can journey with you in taking steps toward that.
