FAQ
About the Alpha Weekend The Alpha Weekend is the highlight of Alpha, a time to pause, reflect, and explore questions of faith in a relaxed and beautiful setting. It’s a chance to connect more with others, enjoy good food and conversation, and take a break from the busyness of life.

Who is the retreat for? The retreat is for anyone who has been taking part in Alpha. We would ask that you’ve completed most of the Alpha sessions leading up to the retreat so you can get the most out of the weekend. If you’ve missed a few sessions, please speak to your table leader. They can help you catch up by arranging a time to meet and watch them together or you can find the talks on the Alpha app to watch on your own.

When is the retreat? The retreat runs from Friday to Sunday, November 28–30, 2025, on Gambier Island. The departure time is currently set at 6.15pm and returning at 12pm. (Times will be confirmed closer to the time)

Where is it held? We’ll be staying at Camp Fircom, a welcoming and peaceful site surrounded by forest and ocean views. We have our own large cabin and will have meals and run the sessions in the dining lodge that over looks the water.

How do we get there? We’ll travel together by chartered water taxi from Horseshoe Bay on Friday (currently scheduled at 6.15pm) we suggest you use the bus to get to Horsehoe Bay. There is no other access apart from water taxi and there is a very limited pubic schedule. We plan to return at 12pm on a chartered water taxi. What’s the cost? The cost for the weekend is $100 per adult, $75 per student and $50 for children 5-12. This includes 2 nights accommodation (based on a shared room), meals, return water-taxi transport, and all retreat sessions. If cost is a concern, please reach out confidentially to the Alpha team, we don’t want anyone to miss out because of finances. (Refunds can’t be offered after 19 th Nov)

Where will we stay? The rooms are simple, comfortable, and shared. Couples will have their own private room. Non-couples will be placed in shared (single sex) rooms of three people, each person having their own single bed within the room. Please bring your own bedding or sleeping bag, pillow, towel and robe.

What’s the schedule like? The weekend starts with eating together by the fire and an introduction to the weekend. There is a Saturday morning session, followed by lunch and free time in the afternoon, (a group hike will be offered), there is a Saturday evening session followed by snacks, after breakfast on Sunday we have one more session before returning by water taxi to Vancouver.Between sessions there’s plenty of time to relax, enjoy nature and spend time with others. Expect meaningful conversation, laughter, and good food.

Can I bring my kids?Yes! Families with children are welcome. While there isn’t an extensive children’s programme, there will be a supervised room for kids during the main sessions, so parents can take part in the weekend while their children are looked after close by.Please let us know when registering if you’ll be bringing children so we can plan appropriately.

How do I register? You can register by completing the Alpha Retreat registration here.

When is the registration deadline? Please register by November 18, 2025, so we can confirm numbers and transportation. (Refunds can’t be offered after 19 th Nov)

Who can I contact with questions?Reach out to the Alpha Team at alpha@trinitycentral.org or ask your table leader. We’re happy to help with logistics, dietary needs, or any other questions.
